Big ups to Poetic Death and the rest of the crew of Organized Threat In June of 2011, after the release of his 9th solo album "Shakespeare Science", Poetic decided to leave his job and dedicate his entirety to turning his music goals into a reality. He would later put his endeavors on hold, and spend the rest of 2011 rebuilding the Organized Threat foundation from the ground up in an attempt to establish The Movement as an entity that should not be overlooked. On December 31st, 2011, with the launch of the Official Organized Threat website he announced that the foundation had been placed in accordance and that he would then be spending more time focusing on his personal works and fan base again. In terms of your question, I think the major misunderstanding between Hip-Hop and Rap is the category in which each is placed. Rap is one element to Hip-Hop, whereas Hip-Hop is the culture in its entirety. You see this a lot with just about any "Hip-Hop" artist in the past ten years. People who think that just because they can rap, that makes them Hip-Hop. Wrong, Hip-Hop is the culture. So even if you have some decent raps, your overall lifestyle and the subject matter of your works can completely demolish your Hip-Hop Pass if you are misrepresenting the culture. Common went to Haiti and filmed "Sweet" with no security, Drake can't do that. That's the difference.
