Interview with Chase Williams from Suess Creations
Ramon: First of
all I just wanted to give thanks for taking out some time for some Q&A!
Chase: Sure!
Ramon: So you are The Chase Williams from Seuss’s Creation, the guy who’s been providing video footage of Indie artist spinning. How did you get started with filming?
Chase: I started September 11th 2010, that was the date of my first rave I ever went to.
Ramon: Right on
Chase: I had noticed my brother had become a high up ranking inter for the dudes over at Vital SC and been going out to a lot of raves. Being that I had been listening to Electronic music since 1999 with my first song being, “Praise You” by Fatboy Slim.
Ramon: It’s a classic
Chase: I was eager to try out the nightlife and so I bought tickets to a Benny Benassi in Santa Cruz over at the Catalyst. I went to the show and saw John ZOMBIE on stage filming and I said to myself, “I have to be that guy!”
Ramon: That dude runs deep I heard!
Ramon: Pressure levels must run super high. What’s your take on filmmakers who create surreal footage Vs. what you do out on the field, I guess I would call it Guerilla Film making.
Chase: It’s all artwork for me. My Job as an Indie Film Maker is to highlight the event. Show the shows for what they are. The surrealism is kind of an approaching factor to whether you would like it or not is something that people would like to see more of as an escape to their daily lives and is applied to every type of film making. I don’t have preferences to over one or the other. Right now I’m trying to learn more special effects, but for now, I’m proud of the fact that I don’t know any and I’m still doing a good job by making the shows look great!
Ramon: What’s your take on film schools, because you seem to be more of a learn as you go type of guy. What drives you to film?
Chase: What drives me personally? It’s that feeling of being on stage when a DJ that you love plays a track that he or she wrote and its live right there. As a kid, I always wanted to be a Film Director since I was about 4. As I got older I learned that LA is a shark tank so I picked up a camera, gave photography a try and just decided it was too easy and then just went on teaching myself film.
Ramon: Times are changing. A piece of paper doesn’t count as much now days. It’s about work ethic.
Chase: Which is why I’m just doing art work instead of working a minimum wage job?
Ramon: Do you feel America is having a Silent Revolution? That maybe the artist of today are somehow becoming the invisible hand in guiding the next generations’ chapters?
Chase: No, kids today have the fire to want to change things because they are all young and lost, they will hopefully learn to recycle and go solar. DC isn’t going to budge on anything no matter who is in charge of the majority. Artist today will all die out unless they are iconic and get lucky, or do hard work and sell out a little bit, at least I’m lucky enough to be doing art that is directly involved with promotional purposes.
Ramon: Hey, I just want to say Big Ups on the interview and thanks so much for the videos!https://www.facebook.com/NLPromotionsInc
