San Jose Skating to Risk Everything

Local Market

Lake Cunningham Regional Skate park in San Jose hosted their first ever Skateboarding Bowl Content giving away $1,000.00 Pro skaters from around the Bay Area came in to participate in Nor Cal’s Largest Skate park, it also included a local skate shops that operated in the skate park’s office.
Walking around with my Canon 500n, I began going up to venders and asking, “What do you do?” Small shops that you would normally see in Eastridge or Oakridge mall were “micro-sized”.  Walking around the skate park, I was given this vibe that seemed very relaxing. Seeing local pro skaters jamming around with skaters of all age and size just seemed to mesh together. Local companies from San Jose, Santa Clara, and Sunnyvale were all gathered with tents set-up and seemed to be enjoying the contest while making money, not a bad way to do business.
If you think about how business is practiced now a day, investing into a small, personal business doesn’t seem a bad way to go. Along the right side of the park aisle were rows of small independent entrepreneurs venturing out into a new business day. Micro management seems to be the way to go. Just think of the perks; No shitty break rooms, office drama, cooperate harassment, and in fact, operating a small business is something everyone should consider if you loved the movie, “Horrible Bosses.”

The contest was open only to bowl skaters. The event was hosted by Skid Magazine and Star Nectar.
